Ubuntu 11.04 unstable, update manager crashes

i can not get update manager to load nor the synaptec package manager ...using 11.04 alpha 3...software center opens but can not install anything...fix ??

It's impossible to say without more detailed error messages, and the best way to have a crash addressed is by filing a bug. But you can bypass those gui tools and type this into the terminal to upgrade any outdated packages which might be causing conflicts or something: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade. Then reboot for good measure.

update manager says " unresolvable problem" W:Duplicate sources list entry http://canonical.com/ubuntu/natty/partner amd64Packages....E"Problem with MergeList/var/lib/apt/lists/.....package lists could not be parsed or opened.

There is a duplicate row into your sources.list file, open a terminal and type:

gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Copy and paste the file content here... and please don't mark your question as solved now, it is not solved.
