Looks like a typo, hhtp should be http. If you didn't make a typo yourself in the question, look in the /etc/apt/sources.list or the list files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d

Hi,

Just wanted to say that I had a similar problem and the issue was a typo of sorts in /etc/apt/sources.list.

In sources.list, lines I added -- I forget how now and actually those newly added repositories were working before without a problem -- read

deb repository-http:// ....
deb-src repository-http:// ....

and the error message I was seeing was
E:The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/repository-http could not be found.

deleting repository- fixed the problem.

I suppose a typo of hhtp in sources.list generates the error message ananthana is seeing. This is probably just what actionparsnip was thinking.

In conclusion, this bug discussion helped me fix my problem,
Thanks.

@andrew-woodhead666

Hallo andre, I am new to Ubuntu. I start using Ubuntu about 3 weeks ago.

I got the same problem as ananthana. I hope we can continue this discussion although has stopped 5 years ago. I really need help for this problem. It's about 3 days since my first meet and try with this problem.

This is the answer from the command line for the first commad:
Linux enggar-Inspiron-11-3162 3.19.0-33-generic #38~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Nov 6 18:17:28 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS
Release: 14.04
Codename: trusty
[sudo] password for enggar:
E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/hhtp could not be found

and for the 'gedit /etc/apt/sources.list' it open a file then I find this text

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu trusty multiverse universe main

I think that's all for now, thanks. Regard.
