Can you tell update-manager not to update a specific package?

Hey, I use Ubuntu Studio, which seems to have just moved a bunch of its packages, like the window and icon theme packages, to the main Ubuntu repositories. Anyway, when I upgraded to the Gutsy beta, and it installed the new Studio theme, I realized I liked the old one better so I used "Force Version" in Synaptic to downgrade the window theme and icon theme packages. All is well and good, except that Update Manager keeps bugging me to update these packages that I want to _stay_ un-upgraded. DIsabling the entire repository would be serious overkill, since it's the main Ubuntu repository where important updates come from. Is there a way to tell Update Manager not to upgrade specific packages, but still inform me of updates to all the other ones? Thanks!

This is probably possible with apt_preferences. Take a look at the manual for that.

You would more or less do:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/preferences

and add there something like:

Package: gnome-themes
Pin: version 2.18*
Pin-Priority: 1001

for every package you'd like to keep.
