update mgr

Asked by schreinemachers

Hello, after activating the check in the update manager it shows the following massage

"CD/DVD 'Ubuntu 10.10 _Maverick Meerkat_ - Release i386 (20101007)' is required
Please insert the above CD/DVD into the drive '/cdrom/' to install software packages from it."

After inserting the CDRom used to install the 10.10 version the above message is been repeated.

What is going wrong?

Can anybody make suggestions?
10.10 is installed on a Dell Vostro 1710

Many thanks
Willem

Open software centre and edit the sources, you will see the CD ROM ticked as a repo, untick it and reload / apply / ok to the desktop and it will go

If you want to use a text editor you can run:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

comment the line out which defines the CD as a repo (use a '#' character at the start of the line), save the new file, close gedit and run:

sudo apt-get update

They both achieve the same thing
