Binary package hint: update-manager

hi all,
please i am using ubuntu desktop 10.04 i tried installing software from Synaptic Package manager but OpenJDK, Apache, tomcat6 and other softwares refuse to install. when i closed the Synaptic package manager and open it again it prompted me with this message
"You have 1 broken package on your system!

Use the "Broken" filter to locate it."

how can i locate the broken package and resolve it.

Open Synaptic, go to Edit menu and select Repair broken packages.

If the synaptic still can't found a broken package try to run

sudo apt-get update -f

from terminal

Did the sudo apt-get install -f got error fried the fix broken file in synaptic packag and got this error
