Upgrade 10.04 to 10.10 problem

Asked by Nukkrith

When I try to update using update-manager this message pop-up:

After your package information was updated the essential package 'ubuntu-minimal' can not be found anymore.
This indicates a serious error, please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report.

-- I don't know how to fix this.. please help

It is advisable to create a bug report as instructed.
Run update-manager and when you get the error message, press Alt+F2 and run "ubuntu-bug update-manager"

Attatch all the files listed in your /var/log/dist-upgrade/ folder additionally.
