Problems upgrading Ubuntu

Asked by olayinka

I tried upgrading my system this morning (not sure what version i had but its the latest upgrade) It froze during upgrade, i restarted it and now i cant even get into the system. When it tried to boot up it cant find a socket and everything goes downhill from there. I can't even type anything in and my mouse is not working either. I will try to give more information as needed. Thanks

Ouch, not cool :)
If you can get into the boot menu, can you at least select one of the recovery mode and boot in it?
If you can do that (and you have a wired connection to the internet), you could be able to finish the upgrade.

I can get into the boot menu and select a recovery mode but it tells me that the netlink socket cant be found and pretty much crashes at that point every time

Boot to liveCD, chroot to the installed system and run:

sudo apt-get -f install
