upgrade to 9.10

Asked by Omar. P

Okay my question is I have two users, the main one that I use has 9.04 and the other is an added a new user. So if I upgrade from the added new user profile to 9.10 will it affect in anyway my other user? Is it a good idea just to try how the new upgrade would be like and if I don't like I can just erase that user along with the upgrade.

No, the upgrade will not touch any users or user data at all, it only upgrades the binarys which make up the OS. Jaunty is EOL next month so I suggest you upgrade to Lucid ASAP.

The OS is shared by all users. So upgrading to 9.10 will affect all users.

Yes but it won't touch their $HOME folders.

@actionparsnip
It will if a software use a new format to record files of parameter. Hopefully, it's seldom, and it can also happened during a classical update-manager. It's better to backup ".file" when you want to go back to previous version.
@Omar
You are in 9.04, which is followed by 9.10, 10.04 and soon 10.10. If you forecast to upgrade step by step to 10.10, I strongly advise you to make a backup of your $HOME directory if you can, and at least of files and folder starting by a dot in your home directory.

Going back to a previous version is not advised or supported.
