The message "Failed to fetch cdrom://Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.. appears after I install updates as per Web messages to install new updates from the Update Manager

Asked by teresita

I would click the button to install software suggested by Update Manager. Afterwards, at the end I would get the message, "Failed to fetch cdrom://Ubuntu 10.04 ... Should I have inserted the CD-ROM before the installation? I inserted the CD-ROM one time but the system prompted to to install the Live- CD so I don't want to do this again.

May I know why I my system receives this kind of message? What should I do to correct this? I captured the image for this screen display but I don't know how to upload it in this forum.

Thank you very much.

Teresita

teresita,

To remove your CD as being a source to get updates:

System / Admin / Software Sources

Uncheck: Cdrom with Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid Lynx'

Then your system will only download packages instead of asking you for the cdrom.

Good luck,
George
