By installing the latest Ubuntu upgrade, will I loose my data from the previous Ubuntu Editions? Will I have to reinstall my proprietary hardware drivers again?

Asked by Roger Alkana

I have Ubuntu 9.10. By upgrading to 10.04, will I have to reinstall my drivers? Will I loose my data or will it auto migrate?

You may have to reinstall the proprietary drivers if they do not survive the upgrade. You will not lose any user data and only the binarys are upgraded. .conf files my be offered to upgrade and you can analyse the differences between to see which you prefer etc.
