Update Manager presents updates for earlier versions

Asked by Sudhir Patel

I have Lucid Lynx, Ubuntu 10.something. When update manager signals updates are available it lists many updates, eg 'ghostscript' and others. The descriptive window below might show something like: "Changes for Versions 8.71 clfsg./-Oubuntu5.1" and would therefore seem irrelevant to Lucid Lynx.
Then, after I install the updates a message comes up saying "Your computer was updated xx days ago" (By xx I mean some number)
Q1, How do I get Update Manager to list only relevant updates?
Q2. Is there any problem created by just installing the updates without checking the versions they are meant for? Will the system 'sort it out'?

Sorry, could not find an answer in listed questions.

All updates shown are relevant. When you see something like "Changes for Versions 8.71clfsgubuntu5.1" it means it is the 5.1 version of that package, and the "ubuntu" in the name means it is a version specific to ubuntu, maybe because it has some ubuntu customizations not yet integrated in the main version.

So install all updates.
