Malformed line 54 in source list etc/apt/sources.list(dist)

i tried to download cairo object dock. Am using ubuntu lucid lynx...pls help

Try to post the content of your etc/apt/sources.list file.

cat etc/apt/sources.list

cmd is:
cat /etc/apt/sources.list
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UsingTheTerminal

In case you prefer GUI, open Gedit (application -> accessories), browse to the directory and open the file.
Copy & paste the content, because we need to have a look at line 54.

You have some wrong at line 54 of your /etc/apt/sources.list file so...

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type or better, to avoid type errors, copy from here and paste into terminal the row below:

gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

copy entire file content and paste here.

Alternatively, you can remove your original sources.list file and generate a totally new /etc/apt/sources.list file using the following link:

http://repogen.simplylinux.ch/

It is a very handy tool.
