If I open update-manager:

You have too many entries in your apt sources list and some of them are present multiple times.

Well thats a whole load of mess. You have karmic repos in your lucid sources.list file

ANY lines with the word karmic on need to be completely removed. Having them WILL cause issues.

you will need:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

to get write access to the file. Save the new file after editting then run:

sudo apt-get update

Is it any better?
