7 hours and nothing w karmic koala. how do I get out of this?

Asked by Gnusboy

I just passed the 7-hour mark on this 9.10 install. Aside from using most of my system resources over and over, I can see no progress.
If I had realized that this porcess can not be aborted _ I never would have done it. I think that the Ubuntu Update program should have been more explicit when offering this alleged 3.22 hour install.
Yes, I could have been more vigilant as well. But I am fairly new at Ubuntu and there have been several "updates" sent recently and I did not think that a p0ackage from there would be screwed up.
Can I get out from under this P.O.S. or do I have to wipe the drive and start over?

What is your problem? Its not clear in the post. If you're unable to boot in after the upgrade fro ubuntu 9.04, I suggest that you start from square one, i.e, have a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10. The upgrade process is currently error-prone, so its wise to install Ubuntu 9.10 manually. I too tried upgrading and got screwed up, But I could fix it with a help from the IRC channel. But, a few problems still persisted, so I installed Ubutnu 9.10 freshly. Now it works fine. And frequent 'updates' will continue to be there, atleast for few more days. Those are bug corrections and upgrades thet will help you. BE sure to upgrade, when an upgrade is available..
