how do I create desktop icons in 9.10

I installed ZynAddSubFX via the Synaptic Package Manager. It did not create a desktop icon in my Sound & video icon directory in Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook version. I can run it from the command line and it works but how do I create an Icon for it on my desktop favorites panel? I tried to use the Ubuntu Software Center but the application was not listed in the Sound & Video area.

You could try to browse to the location using Nautilus (file browser) and create a shortcut.
Them move the shortcut to your Desktop.
