Launcher and Top Bar separate?

Asked by Kenny Stier

I am creating a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu, and was wondering; can I get rid of the launcher and keep the top bar? If not, please make it possible. I want to use Docky instead of the laucher. And now instead of GTK, this is being coded in QT, right? Thanks!

Install gnome-panel and log off and select the new session in the login page. If you want the Compiz graphical effects, run ccsm and disable the Unity plugin and run:

compiz --replace

Should be ok. Alternatively you could start with Xubuntu and use those panels or even Lubuntu and use LXPanel. Tint2 is also a great panel and saves having to install a tonne of deps like gnome-panel will.

Can you help with this problem?
