Utopic hardware enablement packages in Trusty

Asked by ubuntu-tester

Hello everybody,

"Anyone wishing to opt into the hardware enablement stack for Precise may do so by installing the linux-generic-lts-<release> and xserver-xorg-lts-<release> packages. For example to install the Quantal hardware enablement packages in Precise, please run the following command:

 sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-lts-quantal xserver-xorg-lts-quantal libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-quantal"

see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack

On trusty I find "linux-generic-lts-utopic package" package but I don't find "xserver-xorg-lts-utopic" and "libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-utopic" packages. To find these packages, I have to install Canonical X Staging (https://launchpad.net/~canonical-x/+archive/ubuntu/x-staging).

Do you know if there is an explanation ?

Thanks, have a good day !

Thanks for your answer Manfred Hampl,

Ubuntu 14.04.02 is officially planned for February 2015 => https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack#Kernel.2BAC8-Support.A14.04.x_Ubuntu_Kernel_Support

So I will be patient, I think this "LTS Enablement Stacks" (kernel and X support) will be released completely soon.

Looking at bug #1400626 I see that there is ongoing work, still today.

According to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TrustyTahr/ReleaseSchedule 14.04.2 is scheduled for February 19, 2015

Please be a patient and wait a few more days.
