changing Launcher side panel

Asked by yzfvie

I am currently running Easy Peasy on my laptop and find it much more user friendly than this Ubuntu 12.04 on my desktop because instead of using the launcher to launch individual programs, Easy Peasy makes all the programs available on the launcher through group buttons that I can select or deselect at will. I find the Ubuntu (Dash Home) button cumbersome because so many more steps need to be used to bring up a program. There is only so much room on the Launcher to add more programs. Easy Peasy even has an extra button called (Favorites) where I can insert Icons for my most frequently used programs without looking for it anywhere else.

Is there a way to change Ubuntu launcher sidebar to be more like Easy Peasy?

EasyPeasy isn't supported here. This is Ubuntu support. I suggest you use this to seek support:

That's been a really bad answer because I also have been looking for this answer. And no, it belongs HERE!

Mint support is also not here. It has its own community which is also not here either. Mint's forum is here:

Neither of the distributions you have named are supported here as they are NOT Ubuntu.

Actually, from what I have read, they are based on Ubuntu but I am happy with mint and have no problems using it.

Yes it is based on Ubuntu but it is not supported here. NONE of the 'Ubuntu based' distros are supported here. Similarly, Ubuntu is based on Debian but if you ask for Ubuntu support in Debian channels youbwill be pointed to Ubuntu support channels. It's that simple.

How is it nobody provides an answer?

I repeat the question because everyone is drifting to some stupid linux distribution:

Is there any program launcher for Ubuntu that can easily be compared to the Ubuntu Netbook Launcher?

I'm not speaking of Mint, Easypeasy (that's just where the idea came from!!!), Debian or any other distribution.

What is the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a

A simple "no" or "yes" would have been enough. Sometimes I think Linux/Unix users aren't thinking strait...

It's your luck I don't have any clue about Linux. Otherwise I wouldn't have been on this page. And if you just want to get rid of me, you also could only have said this. Why would you speak in riddles?

Wish granted!

It's not a riddle. It is a terminal command. Copy and paste it into the terminal and hit ENTER.

Copy the output and paste here as an update. How is that a riddle?
