ubuntu 12.10 hangs purple screen on Lenovo Z370 laptop, hybrid graphics

I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 alongside Windows 7 on a Lenovo Z370 laptop.

I used the Windows WUBI.

At first both OS loaded fine but now Ubuntu hangs at the purple screen...never getting to the logo/dots screen.

I can get to GRUB but dont know enough about it to know if Ubuntu can be rebooted from the command line.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Its a hybrid video chip with Intel and nvidia. This is a REAL headache in Linux and is best avoided. This guide may help but I have NEVER seen a success story with this mess:

Thanks for the reply. I will look into your suggestion. But, why did it work fine the first couple of sessions and thing hang up after that?

There is also bumblebee but I expect you to have tonnes of issues.
