I use the Gnome Classic desktop . . this is something that should have been continued, clean does what you want, and icons don't go wandering around LMAO . . also got a weird thing going on this time since upgrading bookmarks are not working as they should doesn't remember passwords . . Maybe re install Firefox will fix it !

Hi,

why you struggling with EOL versions of Ubuntu ?

My suggestion :

Install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS : http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.04/

Thank you.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

Natty is a dead release in literally a few days. I sugges a clean install with Precise (Ubuntu 12.10, if LTS support appeals to you) or if you want the latest features then install Quantal (Ubuntu 12.10).

Well I am guessing you do not use a PRINTER that is NOT in the NEW version CUPS 1.6 . . My HP M1522nf MFP is one of the many they left out ! . . CUPS version 1.6 jumps from HP 1300 to HP 2000 . .THAT MEANS several pages of HP Printers are MISSING and as such my printer and it WILL NOT work ! ! . . I put in a report about it as I went thru all 561 pages of the list looking for my Printer . . HPLIP if it does not see the printer it WILL NOT work, I am using 11.04 as it DOES NOT have CUPS 1.6 it has CUPS 1.4.6 and it has my printer and there fore Xsane works . .
And THAT is the reason I WILL NOT move to 12.xx . . So when they fix that error send a message
I am not buying a NEW PRINTER so as to be able to scan copy or print . .
Also I got a page at HP saying they no longer supported Ubuntu when trying to download the newest HPLIP
I don't know why but I added a link to the page in my report about the Printer problem about 4 days ago when I had 12.10 on this laptop . . and was fighting to get it to be seen in HPLIP the HPLIP DIAGNOSES said no such printer online or connected
So I spent about 1 day backing up all files and starting out at 10.10 got it running and printer worked plus Xsane worked up graded to 11.04 . . and all works . . . .

That is ok with me at least my Printer works now and the scanner works now . . I might upgrade to 11.10 but will do a lot of research before I do that . .
12.04 and 12.10 are not on the radar any more until they fix CUPS 1.6 and add the bunch of HP Printers between
HP 1300 and HP 2000 . . I spent lots of minutes going through CUPS 1.6 and the about 561 pages of Printers to find out there was a Major gap in the HP printers hahahaha and mine was one of the Missing . . When are they going to UPDATE CUPS ?
I still do not have the sound Icon in the tray as yet ! . . I will wander through the synpatic package manager and see what is there that may be not working and remove it and then re install it . .

You can report a bug to get cups updated.

Well I thought I did as it had a button to create a bug report and I clicked the spot .. Also added the link to the page which said after a gob of stuff HP no longer supports Ubuntu . . Which is why I said 12.xx is not something I want with the present CUPS 1.6
And any update I get now is gone through so as to keep CUPS 1.6 out of my 11.04 . . 11.10 I will do MAJOR reseach on before I allow it on my Laptop AGAIN . . As that was the beginning of the slide down hill ( I have had it on this laptop 4 times and 4 times something went wrong . . )
My laptop is not that old or that slow plus t has 4 gig of ram of which I use 256 for video in CMOS and 756 megs for windows to run in in virtual box and I use 120 megs video for Virtual Box windows crap like Corel Draw . .
