Default connection manager indicator (12.04.1 LTS x64) disappeared from top panel

Asked by mikeys

Default connection manager indicator (12.04.1 LTS x64) disappeared from top panel. How can I retrieve it? The list of available items under the "Add to Panel" list does not include a connection manager indicator. I tried installing the indicator-network from Synaptic, but it disconnected me from the network completely, so I had to uninstall it. Now I am with connman, which is OK except that the indicator icon in the top panel is gone. Please help.

Hi mikeys

have you tried to run this command in terminal: unity --reset. You can access your terminal by pressing ctrl+alt+t.

If this helps you solve your question, please mark thread as solved.

Also try pressing ALT+F2 and run:

nm-applet

This is what I get when I run nm-applet: "Error when getting information for file '/home/k/nm-applet': No such file or directory."
I hate unity. I am using gnome classic. Is there any command to restore the connection manager indicator in the top panel?

You could reinstall the network manager packages, if that fails then install wicd and use that instead. I find it a lot less touchy

Can you help with this problem?
