Cannot Access (Find) Thunderbird Tools Menu

I am running Thunderbird 15.0.1 on Ubuntu 12.04. I have the global menu installed.

I cannot find the Tools menu. I want to install Lightening.

Where is the Tools menu?

on ubuntu, the options menu has changed its name to preferences under the edit menu, on windows it's placed under the options menu, also since thunderbird 9 you can hide the menu

But I suggest you to unistall the global menu.

I did not realize that each application with focus takes over a static place on the screen, the top menu. I found the tools menu. Thanks, actionparsnip.
