can't access system menus since update

am unable to access any menus since update. would love to access gnome panel but it won't show drop down menu options. Kinda hard to fix if you can't access. HELP!!!!!!!!!

What have you upgraded from and what have you upgraded to? If you have upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04 then the gui has changed a lot. Some people prefer it but many don't. I'm one of those that don't.

Before you make you mind up however take a look at the manual and get the feel of it

If you want to get back to the old gui, well something close to it then

Open a terminal by pressing CTRL_ALT+T

enter the following command

sudo apt-get install gnome-panel

reboot and at the logon screen select the gear icon and choose the classic desktop.
