how do I make the interface look more like ms windows

Asked by martin burridge

I cant get on with the desk top. I dont see my program launchers. I seem to remember you could start in different modes and had the choice of the desktop interface you could use. I find it really odd that this version has been made so unfriendly. Might be ok for geeks but not if you are not.I have persisted for a whole day and just want it to look more like a windows operating system that is so easy and all people know where they are with that. This version seems to be more like the old dos that was so unfriendly to the new user that was why MS put windows up front.

So can you tell me please how to alter the desktop to look more like windows please

If you run:

sudo apt-get install xfce4

log off and log in to the XFCE session, should be ok

On the login screen, click the ubuntu logo near your name and select the XFCE session, then log in
