Why am i getting Gnome related updates when i am using Unity

Asked by chintalvaady

Hi Team,

I hope everybody is doing good.

I havea laptop running on Ubuntu 12.04.

Every time i click on update manager, I see many updates for "Gnome" related stuff`s.

When i am using a Unity desktop, Why am i getting gnome updates?

How to avoid this ?

Thanks in advance.

Chintu

Because Unity is a shell for Gnome desktop. Unity itself is not a desktop. You cannot avoid it as you cannot run Unity without a desktop. You can use Unity ontop of any desktop you like, the default in the Ubuntu ISO is gnome
