I would like to thank you guys for all the support. But unfortunately I cannot try unity 2D cause I don't have a password to login. I switched it off after installing Gnome 3. So no Luncher and Title bar. Just blank

You have your sudo password that you authenticate installs with, it's the same password.

Thank you.

The only password I see to log on is keyring. Saying ENTER PASSWORD TO UNLOCK YOUR LOGIN KEYRING. After putting my password nothing happens. Still remain blank. No Launcher and Title bar.

Hold SHIFT at boot, select recovery mode then select root
Now run:

passwd foo; reboot

change foo for your username. Eg:

passwd andy; reboot

Now log in with your new password and you should be ok

I got to the drop down list wherte I got root drop to root shell prompt. When I clicked ok. It asked me for root@polaris, that is the name I named my computer.

When I type paswd
It asked for UNIX passwod.
When I put a diffierent password it won't work.
Am not clear at this point. But am sure am getting closer day by day.

Thanks for all the assistance

Try:

sudo -i

in a user terminal, type your password and you will then be able to do what you wish

I was able to change the root password succesfully but when I reboot, I cannot see the login in page that allows you to change to unity 2D ubunt clasic, or guset login. That is the page I need. Cause when I put my password off I choose the last option from that login page and log out. So when I logged in again it just loddeg on automatically. If I can get to that login page I should be able to login with unity 2d which works fine.

You don't change the root password, you change YOUR USER's

I was able to change user password succesfully. But when I reboot its still login automatically saying ENTER PASSWORD TO UNLOCK YOUR LOGIN KEYRING. The login keyring did not get unlock when you logged into your computer. After putting my new password it won't accept it. But if I put the old password it would accept it Still remain blank. No Launcher and Title bar.
