First time boot issue

Asked by jja

First time user used windows most of my life so sorry for the windows terms in advanced.
I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my new computer. When it restarts it goes well. Once I login my main screen (Desktop) the top bar is there however noting is inside it. My task bar (left hand bar) is there and it has icons on it. However if I click on it nothing happens. I have mouse movement and nothing else. Can any help me? I have reinstalled it several times and still have the same issue. I am currently downloading the ISO image again and going to reinstall again. Hope it works.

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

have you tried running this command in terminal: unity --reset
you can access your terminal by pressing ctrl + alt + t

If that helps you solve your question, please mark thread as solved.
