Launcher auto-hide doesn't reveal in VirtualBox

Asked by Brian Awood

I have a refresh install of 12.04 in VirtualBox 4.1.14 r77440, if I set the launcher to auto-hide, no amount of left side mouse "pressure" will reveal it. Even setting the sensitivity to the highest value doesn't work. It seems to work ok on my physical desktop machine, although with more pressure than I prefer, even with the sensitivity high. Any ideas, I'm guessing it relates to how VirtualBox captues the input, but it seems like there should be a way to make it work, unless it's a bug. I tried adjusting the settings with MyUnity also and that didn't help. I prefered the dodge functionality, that worked fine.

I forgot to include that I also have the VirtualBox Guest Additions for Linux installed.

I believe this is a bug in unity; I linked a bug report for this exact problem.

Don't know if this would help you but I had just upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 & couldn't get the launcher to auto-hide like in the previous version. I downloaded MyUnity from the Software Center. It has a large M for it's icon. Under "My Unity", I then went to behavior & selected hidden.
I just move my mouse over to the left & the icons appear.

Can you help with this problem?
