You can go to system settings->appearance->behaviour and change this.

New user? You need settings->appearance->behaviour Please alter this and tell us EXACTLY what you are seeing and what you are doing. There is not a bug in that area, and the behaviour you get is what was expected.

Dennis, in 12.04 the behavior of the buttons on the left (launcher) was upgraded to one in which first you take your mouse to the left of the screen (you will see a shadow) and then you push further to the left. This was changed to avoid false positives, e.g. the buttons popping up when you are trying to reach Firefox's back button.

If you think the default sensitivity is too high, you can lower it in settings>appearance>behavior>sensitivity and you will have the same behavior as in 11.10.

Can you help with this problem?
