12.4 launch bar

Asked by dpwilson

I have been using Ubuntu since 6.4 but am not really technical enough to research or solve problems myself - I use it because it almost always works. When I upgraded to 11.4 an anoying launch bar appeared on the left of the screen, but it would receed when the cursor was not on it. I recently upgraded to 12.4 and hoped something would have changed with the launch bar - it did. Now it stays active on the left of the screen even when an application is running. Is there a way to make it receed as it did before and, even better, move it to the bottom of the screen. Thanks. dpw

Did you upgrade directly from 11.04 to 12.04?

The 'dodge' option for the launchbar has been removed because it was not popular. There are now two launchbar options only - always on to and hide. You can toggle these from system settings->appearance and use the behaviour tab.

No, from 11.10 to 12.04.

When insisting on 'dogde', before installing a revamped Unity via ppa as commented in bug report rather try the scripts there.

Issues with the script are discussed there.
