Unity looses mouse click handler when using Gtalk & USB headset

Asked by Jevonearth

Hopefully someone can help me with this issue;

When I make or receive a call (video or audio, result is the same) in Chrome/Gtalk, and I answer the call using my USB headset, Unity windowmanager looses control of the click handler.

I can not click and drag windows, I cannot click on any menu items or applications. The cursor is visible and moves just fine. I can switch applications using Alt+Tab, and I can launch new applications using the keyboard.

Tested this on a laptop and desktop machine. Both running Ubuntu 12.04, Google Chrome 18.0.1025.168-r134367 and google-talkplugin 2.8.5.0-1.

The headset I'm using is a Plantronics D100 unit.

I have had this problem for the past month while on the 12.04 beta release. Any ideas?

Additionally, the problem does not occur if I use a Logitech Webcam and its onboard microphone. Triggering of this condition seems to rely on me using the Plantronics D100 headset.

I have been able to trigger this issue without Gtalk/Chrome involved.

When I press the button on the USB headset, it turns on the earpiece. At that point Unity looses its ability to click and drag windows.

I'm going to convert this question to a bug report....
