how to remove chat-indicator in panel in ubuntu 11.10?

Asked by peter janzen

hey,
I removed the chat client empathy from ubuntu, but the chat-indicators "available, away, ..." are still in the panel. How can I get rid of them without deleting the mail indicator, too?
thanks for your help!

The packages that manage the chat indicator also manage the mail indicator etc. so removing it will disable the other indicators also.

If you're familiar with Terminal, open it up and type '$ sudo apt-get purge indicator-me indicator-messages'.
