Installing Ubuntu with SSD

Asked by Adam

Hi Guys and Girls

After being a Ubuntu user for about 2 years on my laptop. I made PC this summer and have been running Windows 7 up until now. It keeps deciding that it is going to randomly crash on me when I am in the middle of something I have tried all the diagnostics windows offers and more with no success. I miss the days of Ubuntu so I am going to make the transition back but before I do I wondered if you could answer a few questions for me?

I use dual screens with windows is it possible to continue this with Ubuntu? When running windows I use an SSD as a boot drive and a 2TB drive for storage I would like to keep this set up, will Ubuntu work with this, anything that I will need to change to get this to work, so all documents etc would be on the 2TB drive?

I have a Logitec G510 keyboard and use the macro keys all the time for creating code documents can I continue with this?

I am currently using ATI 6870 graphics cards (2x in Xfire) will this still work?

Thanks for all the help!!

I suggest you boot to live USB and test. You can use the SSD / Platter based storage effectively. I suggest you put /var and /home on the platter based storage and the rest on the SSD.

Can you help with this problem?
