don't understand instruction "open the dash......."

In downloading Ubuntu, am trying to create a bootable USB stick.
Under: Step 2. "Create a Bootable USB Stick" , we click the button "Show Me How" and the instructions appear as follows -
" 1. Insert......
   2. Open the dash and search for Startup Disk Creator"

Have no idea what "open the dash" means.

Please explain.
