When I sign into to Ubuntu, it takes me to the background image, nothing else happens.

Asked by Patrick Cline

As the summary states, when I enter my password to sign in, it makes a noise, and just displays the background image. I am able to access the Ctrl+Alt+F1 command thing. But, besides that, there is basically nothing I can do.

Try to do this:
1. Login and open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T (if not work login with Unity 2D)
2. Insert and run this command:
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

3. Now in the terminal run:
ccsm

4. In the new window enable the plugin called "Ubuntu Unity Plugin"
5. Restart. (If you have selected Unity 2D at the 1 step, come back to Unity 3D)

Can you help with this problem?
