Do you know what version of ubuntu you are running?

Is there a fat panel on the left side, or only two panels, one top and one bottom?

I take it this has worked previously, i.e. prior to using ubuntu tweaks?

The desktop layout in 11.10 has changed, as it is now using the "unity" desktop environment

On the fat panel on the left, you should see a picture of a house and a folder, if you click this, it will take you to your home folder, which is the equivalent of "my computer"

If this is not visible, you may need to reset your unity settings

Can you help with this problem?
