Ubuntu 11.10 doesn't do anything after i log in

Hello,

i just installed Ubuntu 11.10 64 Bit on my computer together with Windows 7. After i select it in the bootsection it starts, but the desktop is split in two and after i enter my login information the welcome sound comes but after that nothing.

maybe someone can help me, i would appreciate it.

Hi, at the login screen try to do this:
click on the icon beside your name and select Ubuntu 2D, like you can see here:

then insert your password and login. Maybe works.

Please make sure the system is up-to-date.
Open a terminal: ctrl+alt+t
Enter:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo reboot
