Replacement for panel applets in 11.10 gnome 3.0

Is there a replacement for the essential productive panel applets like
⋯Disk Mounter,
⋯CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor,
⋯Character Palette,
⋯working Clock,
⋯working Calendar
in gnome 3.0 ?

There is a gDesklets applet system available, but it is for all practical purposes useless.

Well, turns out there are applets. HOORAY!!!

Just hold down the Alt key while clicking on the panel....
