How do I move the Unity launcher bar to a different position on the screen?

I use X2X and would like to move the launcher bar from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen so that every time the pointer leaves the desktop on the left side of the screen, the launcher does not stay open.

Indeed, Canonical has decided not to implement this feature and not to accept patches that provide it. (A patch allowing the launcher to move to the bottom of the screen would be accepted, under some circumstances.) See bug 668415 for details.
