Can Unity slow down the computer when I use Gnome 3?

I want to use Gnome 3 only. Should I uninstall Unity for using Gnome only or not? If I leave Unity on my computer, doesn't it slow down my system?

Nope..Unity will not slow down ur PC if u r using Gnome 3 only . All UI works kind of applications in Linux i.e you have select a UI from the login screen than the UI will be active for your session other will be inactive. You can also uninstall unity if you want. But it is not necessary if you are ready to spare some disk space for it :).
