Dash in Ubuntu 10.10

Asked by Fahim Taraq

When I click on Ubuntu 10.10 logo at top left Dash does not show up but it shows Applications menu. I am interested in the Dash as mentioned in the website www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/whats-new. Please let me know how to install Dash. Thanks.

dash and unity is something that came out with vers 11.04. i doubt it's even available for 10.10. if you want it, you should update to version 11.10. version 11.04 is really buggy when it comes to unity.

Dash as you are describing it is part of the unity desktop. It is available in 10.10 and you can install it but I would not recommend it has there are reports that it was buggy.

I would recommend updating to 11.10 which will give you Unity as the default desktop though Gnome is still available if you want it by logging in in 'Classic Mode', Note: you will need to update first to 11.04 then 11.10

I you want to install Unity in 10.10 follow the instructions in the first reply.
