remove unity task bar or at least move it to the bottom

Asked by Neil

Hi All
I'm trying to use 11.10 on second HDD. before updating. But I have to say I hate the task bar on the side can I move it?
or remove it?

Unity is a bad move! very unpleasant to use, if I can't get the hang of it I think I will move on.
I just looked on distro watch Ubuntu is dropping in down loads fast, I think I can understand why.

it is sad I love Ubuntu I have had it since Festy, but Unity is not very good....

Neil

There is another way. You can install package "gnome-session-fallback" ,it will give you the old classic desktop in Ubuntu 11.10

For details follow below link
http://www.liberiangeek.net/2011/08/return-to-ubuntu-classic-desktop-in-ubuntu-11-10/

Unity is created with a purpose. the purpose is to give same user interface across all devices i.e. desktop, netbook, tablet, Cellphones, IP TV. the development of unity is not 100% complete yet, like all other applications it is taking time to come out as a finished product

Also for old desktop kind experience you can install cairo-dock. Go to software center and search cairo dock.
Else below link provides command line syntax
