Hi, do this:
1. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
2. Insert and run this command:
gnome-appearance-properties

3. In the new window select the 'Ambiance' theme.
4. It must be ok now.

But are you talking about the graphics? Have you selected Classic Desktop at login screen? If yes and if you have the two panel (at top and at bottom) and you want to use Unity, the new interface of Ubuntu 11.04 with the top panel and the left panel with applications, at login screen, in the bottom panel, select 'Ubuntu' as default session.

Here is an image of where you have to change it:

REMEMBER: you have to select Ubuntu, NOT Ubuntu Classic!!!
