Reassign unity "panel" keyboard shortcuts?

Asked by Jim Tittsler

How do I reassign the keyboard shortcuts for the Unity "panel"? I would like to use Super-1 ~ Super-n for more common activities than launching applications from the panel. How can I change to something like Shift-Super-1 etc. ?

If you haven't changed anything you can restore Unity as default. For do this, follow this step:
1. Login into Ubuntu
2. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
3. Insert and run this command:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz-1
unity --reset

4. Restart, this should work.

If when you hit CTRL + ALT + T and nothing happen, do this:
1. At login screen select Recovery Console at bottom:

2. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
3. Insert and run this command:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz-1
unity --reset

4. Restart, this should work.

This process does not work. After following these steps Super-1 to Super-8 are still bound to launching applications in the panel, with no obvious configuration scheme for setting the keyboard shortcuts to better alternatives.

Oh sorry, I've misunderstood, do this:
1. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
2. Insert and run this command:
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

This will install a program for modify Unity

3. In the terminal now run:
ccsm -p "unityshell"

This will allow you to modify Unity configuration, try to see here.

Yes, I had been looking in the Compizconfig-settings-manager. The Ubuntu Unity Plugin has a setting for "Key to Show Launcher" but doesn't seem to have a setting for the keys used for actually launching the programs in the launcher. Changing the "Key to Show Launcher" to Shift-Super works... but the applications still launch with Super-1, Super-2, etc... not Shift-Super-1, Shift-Super-2, etc

I can't find the keystroke configuration for the launcher.

Hmm, try to see in the other plugins, but don't enable the disabled plugins, it can corrupt Unity, if this happen, follow the step in the first message.

Try also to do this:
1. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
2. Insert this command and run:
gnome-keybinding-properties

Maybe here you will find what you want.

Can you help with this problem?
