How to bring back my unity desktop from gnome ui?

Actually, i have installed ubuntu 11.04 on my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. It was having some problems with graphics. So i installed the recommended updates. Now, ubuntu is booting perfectly, but my unity desktop is gone. How to get back to my unity interface. I tried selecting ubuntu at the time of login.

Open terminal: ctrl+alt+t
Try:
unity --reset
or
unity --replace

You can do it also on tty: ctrl+alt+f1
Login with username and passwd.
After done rather reboot:
sudo reboot

@above: Thanks for the reply. I tried it, but unfortunately its not working. I dint get my unity interface back. Please suggest me with any other alternative.

create a new user to test if unity is working for this new user, from terminal:

sudo useardd testuser

then logout and login with "testuser"

then might be there some issue with 3d on your graphic card so please try the unity-2d package
or please tell the graphic card you have, from terminal type:

lspci | grep -i vga

Better output this to see which driver is in use.
sudo lshw -C video

e.g. issue HP notebook dv6
