Clock applet no longer shows weather info

Asked by Mannex

Running Natty, and I noticed that the clock applet no longer shows weather icons or information about my selected cities in the drop-down. It does if I log in without Unity (Ubuntu Classic). Is there a way to turn on that information with the Unity desktop? Also, the drop-down is not showing all of the cities I have configured as places. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

AFAIK there is no way to turn on the weather in the clock applet. However, there is a nice weather indicator (aptly called indicator-weather) that can be installed from either the Software Center or the command line.

As for the second thing, if you go into the Time and Date Settings, then to Clock and check "Time in Other Locations" and add your locations to that list it will somewhat approximate how it was before, but again I don't think there is a way to have it list the places exactly like it used to be. Hope that helps

Thanks. Here's where it gets a little weird. When I add the location "Desert Hot Springs, California" in Ubuntu Classic (no Unity), that's fine. It's recognized as one of the cities in its database, and all works well. In Ubuntu (with Unity), that is no longer a recognized city. So... are the two interfaces using two different databases of locations? Why would this be the case? Especially since I am only changing window management software? Additionally, the new clock applet does not allow me to click on dates on the calendar to launch the Evolution calendar. Hmm. Will there be plans to make this integration better?

Well, that's weird. The clock applet recognizes Desert Hot Springs in Unity for me, and if I double click a date in the applet it launches Evolution :/
