Cannot log into the Gnome Terminal

Asked by bernard

I am currently using 11.04 instead of 10.10 which was so easy to use but find the changes very discouraging although, as Ubuntu apparently intend to stay with the Unity desktop, feel that I should attempt to also. In order therefor to have easy access to the Gnome Terminal , I would be most grateful if someone could kindly show me how to put it's logo on either the tool bar or the launch pad (or both).

Doing a simple keyboard combo 'Ctrl+Alt+T' to launch the Terminal, can not that be a simple solution?

I don't know if that works well with Unity though.

Your solution:

1. In the dash, find the Terminal.

2. Drag the icon to the launcher.

3. There is no step 3.

Thanks Ian, that was great. I was then able to follow Deltik's subsequent suggestion which enabled me to put a logo onto the launch bar which had not been previously possible. Marcobra sent me a link this morning to a lengthy illustrated blog by a Ubuntu engineer extolling the attributes of 11.04. It looks very informative and interesting so will print it later this morning.
