Can't display new desktop with Ubuntu 11.04

When I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 I was looking forward to the 'new look'. But I got an error message saying I didn't have the 'right hardware' and that I would have to chose (?) the classic Ubuntu desktop. What does this mean? And whay can't I use the new features?

Go to Additional Drivers and install the driver for your Graphics Card.
