Can I go back to 11 04 from 11 10

Asked by Hugh-hfegan

I can not open files that I created in 10.10 and 11.04. I can not move files to my external hard drive. I want to
go back to 10.10 or 11.04. I DO NOT LIKE 11.10 AND I DEFINITELY DO NOT LIKE THE UNUTTY DESKTOP!

If Compiz crashes worry you, then log out, select your user and before entering the password select at the bottom of the screen classic desktop with no effects.
That way compiz and 3D efects are not started.

There's no way to go back other than installing from scratch.

Why do you not start your Ubuntu with Ubuntu classic or Ubuntu classic (no effects) to have same desktop as Ubuntu 10.10 ?

I am having the same problem. My desktop is blank, nothing is on it except for background image. I would like to keep 11.04, but how do I revert what I did (I only enabled cube rotation in compizconfig)?

Hi Miro Glavic
The solution I got to this is on Question 155542- go to #3 of it, this resets it and got the icons back for me, seem not to be able to run the cube option on 11.04.

Hi, I also have many problems with 11.04
All I do is waste my time trying to solve graphic interface problems (part of the screen is garbled, can't access menu bar, etc...)
Where do I find 10.10 so I can reinstall it instead of this awful buggy version?
Thanx,
Nir

Further to Ner Nevo's question, I would also like to go back to 10.10 - how do I do it? Do I have to uninstall 11.04? How do I do that? Or do I just install 10.10 over the top?

I think the only way is to do a complete reinstall of 10 10 - back up everything first - and yes it is a awful buggy version as it is

Hi Andrew Corser, and others. I just wanted to note that it took me some time to realize I don't need to reinstall 10.10
My problem(s) was with the new interface. As Federico Tello Gentile wrote - you can switch back to "classic",
and this is how I work since, problems all gone. Thanx Federico!
The trick is that I don't get to the login screen Federico mentioned unless I choose to "Lot out" (which I have no other reason to do, since I'm the only user). Suspend/Restart/Shut down get me to a simple "unlock" window instead.
I hope this helps...
