Windows are blank when maximized in 11.4 Natty

Asked by Dr Flywheel

After I upgraded to Natty from Meerkat I experienced problems with windows. If I launched an application maximized the window would be blank. I would have to drag the corner of the window to shrink it to a much smaller size before it would display the data. I upgraded my laptop at the same time as I upgraded my desktop but the laptop doesn't have this behavior. The difference, as far as I can tell, is that the laptop and the desktop had two different browsers. The desktop had been upgraded to Namaroka 3.6.18pre while the laptop was still running Firefox 3.6.16. It appears that the upgrade to Firefox 4.0 was the source of this problem, specifically from Namaroka 3.6.18pre to 4.0. I have no idea why the browser upgrade would affect the operation of the windows manager but it seems it has. Also, Firefox 4.0 does NOT play nicely with Flash. I stream audio content using Flash and I experience an unacceptable amount of audio jitter.
